The Most Responsible Product in Finland - Audience Favorite

Ruukki Spinning Mill Ltd is the winner of the 2025 Finland's Most Responsible Product public vote! We received 8.18% of the public votes, while the runner-up, VAI-KO Hanki Beanie, got 4.67%. A total of approximately 4,000 votes were cast, and there were over 170 responsible products in the competition.

Ruukki's spinning mill alpaca garments won by an overwhelming majority. Voters were especially charmed by the timeless design, long-lasting quality, and waste minimization of the alpaca clothing. A warm thank you to our loyal customers. This victory belongs to you!

Welcome to participate in Ruukki Spinning Mill's Autumn 2024 Knitting Competition! In the competition, you can showcase your knitting skills and have a chance to win beautiful yarns for your chosen Ruukki Spinning Mill knitting pattern. Anyone can enter the competition, whether you have little or a lot of knitting experience. The theme of the competition is "Frost and Hoarfrost."

Competition details and participation instructions:

Competition period: 1 October – 3 November 2024.
Single skein gloves. The principle is a "single skein hand-warming" model, 100g, but does not exclude the use of multiple colors.
Order yarns from us for the knitwear you design submitting the contact form or emailPlease include your name, contact information, and phone number in your message. Please note that we will include the first 20 registrants!
Send the finished gloves and your contact information to us by November 3, 2024, at the following address: Ruukin Kehräämö, Ruukinrannantie 6, 25660 Mathildedal
The winner will be chosen by public vote At the Finnish Handicrafts Fair 15th–17th November at Tampere Exhibition and Sports Centre, at our booth E 30.
The winner will be announced on Saturday, 23 November 2024, on social media, and the knitwear designer will be notified personally.
The designer of the winning gloves will have their knitting pattern included under their own name in Ruukki Spinning Mill's knitting pattern collection.

Craft Workshop on 15 June 2024 from 12 PM to 4 PM.

Would you like to spend a relaxed and enjoyable day with your craft hobby and maybe bring a friend along?

Now you have the chance to try out different handicraft techniques at Ruukin Kehräämö's Workshop Days in Mathildedal! The theme for June is spinning yarn (Marja) and twill weaving (Leena). Ruukin Kehräämö and Mathildedal provide a unique setting for a fun day of learning something new. Wouldn't it be great to knit with yarn you spun yourself? In the course, you'll learn the basics of spinning yarn, and a good goal, besides acquiring a new skill, is to make a stripe or two for a sock cuff or a hat.

Or would you like to knit a soft and warm seat cushion from Kehräämö's alpaca yarns? You can easily and quickly do it using the tufting technique.

The course fee is €50, which includes instruction and a coffee break snack. Materials are not included in the course fee. You can purchase materials and tools from the instructors and the spinning mill. You may also bring your own yarns or fibers.
