Baby Alpaca blend

Baby Alpaca fiber is warm, light, and pleasantly soft. It is a more commonly used fiber type than Royal Alpaca. Alpaca fibers are classified and named according to their coarseness. The name Baby Alpaca does not refer to fiber shorn from an alpaca calf or the length of the fiber. Baby Alpaca is four microns (a thousandth of a millimeter) thicker than Royal Alpaca fiber. The next fineness class after Baby Alpaca fiber is Superfine Alpaca, which is most commonly used in the clothing industry. The thinner the alpaca fiber, the more magnificent its properties become when spun into yarn.

Alpaca fiber has excellent thermal regulation capabilities. Thanks to the crimped structure of the fiber, air pockets remain between the fibers, acting as insulation. Alpaca fiber repels water and dirt and does not absorb odors. Hypoallergenic and antibacterial, the fiber is also suitable for those with sensitive skin.

In addition to alpaca fiber, sock yarns often include fibers that withstand mechanical stress well, such as synthetic fibers and cotton. This improves the durability of the sock. Elastane is added to improve wearing comfort. Thanks to elastane's elasticity and recovery, the sock also retains its shape better.
