Alpaca cardigan with buttons
A high-quality alpaca cardigan in different shades is a wardrobe savior.
A classic and high-quality alpaca cardigan is a durable and stylish staple.
This high-quality alpaca cardigan for women has a classic design and is available in both V- and O-neck styles. The cardigan has buttons at the front and slightly longer sleeves, like our other alpaca knitwear.
The cardigan is made from 100% of the best Royal alpaca wool on the market and will retain its shape and style for a long time. The cardigan is light and thin, but very durable and warm, just like our basic sweater.
You can easily combine a wool jacket with different styles of skirts and pants, creating a new style every time and suitable for any occasion.
The Alpaca Royal collection is made from the best 100% Royal alpaca fiber on the market (≤ 18 µm). Thanks to its fine-quality fiber, the Alpaca Royal family products retain their appearance for years and are highly durable. The cardigan does not need to be washed much, as alpaca wool does not absorb odors, and often just airing the sweater is enough.
Special attention has been paid to sustainability in the production of alpaca knitwear. Because we do not dye our products, each alpaca cardigan is always unique. Each color is authentic, the original color of the alpaca that produces the wool. Thanks to the chemical-free production process, the properties of the top-quality fiber are transferred to the garment.
Untreated alpaca wool breathes and regulates body temperature, so the sweater always feels comfortable against the skin. Even in the heat of summer, an Alpaca Royal sweater feels comfortable. Alpaca wool repels water so well that even heavy rain does not wet the sweater. Alpaca Royal products are also hypoallergenic and will not sting even sensitive skin.

Truly Comfortable
Ruukin Kehräämö’s high-quality products are made from 100% Alpaca Royal fiber, known for its softness, lightness, and durability. This fine, grease-free fiber ensures a smooth feel against the skin without itchiness.
Alpaca fiber is breathable, regulates temperature, repels water and dirt, and does not absorb odors. Our knitwear is completely free of chemicals and dyes – all colors are the natural shades of alpaca wool.
Classic Collection
Designed in Finland, our products are manufactured in the Baltics and Finland. Timeless design and high-quality materials ensure longevity – our knits resist pilling, and steaming restores their shape. Our garments remain in the collection as long as there is demand.
Responsible Production
We use ethically sourced Royal Alpaca fiber from Peru, ensuring fair compensation for local farmers. Our garments are knitted to shape, minimizing waste, and defective products are unraveled for reuse. By avoiding dyeing, we save water and chemicals, and our knitwear zippers are made from recycled plastic.
The knitwear is easy to maintain: keep, air and keep.
Store the sweater in an airy and dry place, protected from pests. The knitwear is refreshed and smoothed by clever steaming. The sweater can also be brushed with a clothes brush intended for delicate sweaters.
If necessary, stain removal and/or washing with wool detergent by hand or with the washing machine's hand wash program at +30°C.
Remember that we have a repair service. In case of damage, send your sweater to be repaired. This is how we together increase the useful life of knitwear and save nature.
And when your favorite sweater is completely worn out, we accept it as a material to be processed again.
1. Why don't we have any colorful knitwear?
Ruukin Kehräämön Alpaca Royal fiber is undyed. Each color is the true color of the original wool-producing animal. In total, there are 22 basic colors of alpacas. This ensures a wide and stunningly beautiful color palette.
The absence of dyeing is an advantage for the fiber, yarn, and especially the finished knitwear. Harsh chemical processes; bleaching, dyeing, finishing, and washing wear out the fibers and break their surface structure. The natural properties of minimally processed alpaca fiber transfer directly to the garment. That is why Ruukin Kehräämön's knits are not dyed.
When the knit reaches the end of its life cycle, the fiber continues its life. Undyed, chemically untreated alpaca fiber is 100% biodegradable natural product. The knits can also be torn back into fibers and recycled for reuse.
2. Why do our products have a shipping fee?
We want you to avoid making a hasty purchasing decision and to be sure of your choice when ordering a product. In Finland, up to 50% of online store orders are returned. It has been found that postage significantly reduces the number of returns.
On average, the largest emissions from clothing sold in online stores come from the product itself (~83%), but transportation accounts for 14% of the emissions. If the product is returned, the transportation emissions double.
We want to act responsibly towards both our customers and the environment. When you buy less, thoughtfully, and of better quality, both the environment and your wallet will thank you.

3. Why don't we have discount campaigns?
We do not support fast fashion or hasty purchasing decisions. FOMO (Fear of missing out) is a commonly used marketing tactic to get customers to buy products they may not necessarily need.
By limiting the offer to a specific time, consumers are encouraged to make impulsive purchasing decisions. Instead, we want you to be satisfied with your purchases from us and to use our products for a long time. You can always trust that our product prices remain the same, whether you shop on Black Friday or on a regular Sunday morning.
3. How can we ensure that the yarn from Perusta is responsibly produced?
In the Peruvian mountains, alpaca farming is the main livelihood. Up to 85% of the indigenous population's income comes from selling alpaca wool. By purchasing wool from certain farms, we can ensure that the farmer receives a fair compensation for their work. Alpacas play an important role in breaking the cycle of poverty.
Ruukin Kehräämö uses only high-quality and ethically produced RAS-certified (Responsible Alpaca Standard) alpaca wool. The breeders, who belong to Peruvian indigenous peoples, care for their small herds with respect for nature. The organization we support Quechua Benefit helps the indigenous people take care of the well-being of both their alpacas and their families.
For each batch of yarn arriving at Ruukin Kehräämö, the fibers are collected separately from local small farms. Each fiber can be traced back to the farm and even to the animal. Alpaca Royal fibers allow breeders to receive double the price compared to coarser fibers.
4. How can we ensure that neither the angora rabbits nor the alpacas suffer during the wool shearing process?
Alpacas and angora rabbits are fiber-producing animals. They have been bred to produce wool, just like merino sheep. Leaving a fiber-producing animal unshorn is harmful to the animal, as the wool does not stop growing at a certain length; instead, long and matted wool makes it difficult for the animal to move and worsens hygiene.
We purchase angora rabbit wool only from domestic farms, where shearing is done on the animals' terms and stress-free. You can watch our partner Villiniitty's shearing video and learn about angora rabbits in our blog post..
The alpaca wool we use for our yarns mainly comes from domestic farms, where alpacas are sheared professionally and painlessly. We purchase black alpaca fiber from a Dutch supplier. Molino Store from the alpaca farmThe indigenous people have long traditions in both the care of alpacas and painless shearing.
